What Is PolygonPunks and How to Mint It?

Since CryptoPunks are too expensive to own at this moment, it might be a good idea to grab yourself a PolygonPunks instead. What if it also goes wild to the moon one day?

PolygonPunk is a unique one of a kind NFT on Polygon. By minting a PolygonPunk, you become the owner of the very special punk NFT on the Polygon network. To make sure the punks are valuable, there can only ever be 10,000 punks.

When you decide to mint one, you will receive a unique one-of-a-kind PolygonPunk with proof of ownership stored on the polygon network. In the interest of fairness and to give everyone the chance to own one (or more) PolygonPunks, the purchase is made on a random basis. And the identity of the PolygonPunks will remain a mystery until your purchase is completed. No first come, first serve, everyone can have a chance to get a PolygonPunks Zombie or a PolygonPunks Ape.

The PolygonPunks obtained are visible on the dapp's interface and will be exchangeable on social networks or in the marketplace. You can get as many PolygonPunks as you want but once the 10,000 are sold it will be too late to get one at mint cost.

How to mint? A few clicks would do.

Step 1: Prepare a wallet that supports the Polygon Network. If you don’t have one, check this instruction with MetaMask as an example: What Is Matic Network and How to Use It with MetaMask?

Step 2: You will need 125 $MATIC tokens to mint one punk. If you are on an exchange, withdraw $Matic to your Metamask and use that to mint a punk! Remember to prepare a few spare tokens enough for the gas fee. Don’t know how to transfer your funds to Polygon? We have a step-by-step guide here: How to Transfer Tokens from Ethereum to Polygon Using PoS Bridge?

Step 3: Connect your wallet to the PolygonPunks official website and click “Mint”.

It will take several minutes for your Punk to show up, then you will be able to view it under “My PolygonPunks” on the top right corner of the website.

So is it really gaining popularity in the NFT community? You can track its on-chain performance.

Launched for just 14 days, the users, volume and transactions all have a good start and hit ATH at the beginning of July. Then all the on-chain data have decreased in the past 7 days.

Will your PolygonPunk NFT be worth your first house or car in the future like the CryptoPunks? Keep an eye on its data, we’ll see.
